Hello District 32 members! I am honored to be your Club Growth Director this year.

As a market research and business intelligence analyst for nearly 30 years I joined Toastmasters in 2016. One thing I have learned as a Toastmaster is that regardless of what business you are in, whether you serve internal or external customers, the key to successfully building relationships is the ability to connect and engage customers. To enhance the customer experience, one must develop engaged employees.

The same could be said for growing our clubs. Developing engaged members is crucial to growing club membership. As members build their communication skills and are encouraged to expand their comfort zone into Toastmaster leadership, they experience self-fulfillment and become fully engaged – thus leading to members who exemplify and advocate the proposition of the Toastmasters experience.

I received my first Distinguished Toastmaster designation last year thanks to the many members who have poked and mentored me along my Toastmaster journey. As your Club Growth Director, I will pay it forward by working with district leaders to develop acquisition, retention and expansion opportunities that market the value of Toastmasters in achieving personal and professional goals.

Along those lines, I invite you to participate in the new Demo Committee initiative for hosting joint area demo meetings and open houses. The Demo Committee meets the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. I also invite you to join the Public Relations & Communications Committee that meets every other Wednesday. Feel free to email me at cgd@d32toastmasters.org for more information. These committees with will work to develop a district marketing plan to assist clubs in their membership drive efforts. Together we will fulfill the District mission throughout Washington and Alaska to bring people together to share their message with the world.
