Nerdmasters Inaugural Meeting

July 1 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm PDT

Nerdmasters Inaugural Meeting – You Are Invited

We are beginning the new Toastmasters year with Nerdmasters at the Conn (“Engage!”)…and you are invited to boldly come along where no Toastmaster has gone before! (If you want to come, please register on EventBrite.)

The D32 Nerdmasters Team is forming an advanced club focusing on using technology to support communication and leadership skills…and we want YOU to join our “nerd herd”. For the time being, this will be an online club, using Zoom. Be prepared to be assimilated if you have a home club and have finished either a CC in the Legacy system or two levels of any Path.

77% of US corporations utilize online meeting and training tools. What we learn in this club may be directly applicable to your professional life. You see…resistance really is futile.

The maiden voyage of the brand new Nerdmasters advanced club is on July 1, at 7:30pm PDT. We might meet for 2 hours, but we won’t go longer.

We have two special presentations planned for you:

Producing a Winning Virtual Speech: Lessons Learned Along The Way By Our 2020 District 32 International Speech Champion

Have you felt frustrated as you present your speeches online? Felt the limitations and the loss of a live audience? Lindy MacLaine, recent winner of the District 32 International Speech Contest, will share not only the tips and tricks she’s learned competing virtually this year, but also some of the hidden potential you may have yet to mine in this new speaking modality.

Gamification: How To Create A Mastery System For Motivation

In Toastmasters and life, motivation is one of the keys to success. Referencing Dan Pink’s book “Drive”, about what truly motivates us, James O’Pheron will share what he has learned about Gamification. We’ll discuss gaming systems, Nerd Fitness, the book “Level up Your Life”, Volkswagon’s “Fun Theory” experiments…as well as Jaymes’ own byzantine attempt to use game theory to motivate his club.

We’ll also have an entertaining, brain-challenging round of advanced Table Topics, to get our nerdly juices flowing. (“Make it so!”)

To reserve your seat in our fun, intellectually intriguing, fun, stimulating, fun and redundant meeting, please register on EventBrite.

No technical knowledge is required to join. We have at least a couple of self-proclaimed luddites joining, planning to increase their nerdliness via osmosis.

We hope you join us…and expand your nerdly horizons!
